The Life Of...

Here's an update on my life for all of you and for myself to think back on in a few...

As of now my stay in Seattle has been filled with climbing, searching for jobs, and ski instructing a bunch of rowdy five and six year olds that you will be seeing in a few years either in the x games or in the Olympics.  A quickly planned three day climbing trip to Smith Rock was a good change of pace from all the job hunting. Everything on the trip was good except for some of the weather (read day 2 on the Smith Rock trip post) but that didn't stop us from climbing.
The trip got me rejuvenated for more job hunting but seriously, how long should this process take? It's getting kind of annoying that I don't have work by now and am getting closer and closer to being broke with each passing day. My shoes are starting to get holes in the soles and it looks like I could be resorting to duct tape and shoe goo for a while for keeping them in one piece because right now buying shoes, even the cheapest of shoes doesn't look like an option. Hopefully I'll get a tip or something for ski instructing but I'm not holding my breath.
Colin and I are trying to take a day trip to Index to get some trad climbing in but it's not looking likely right now due to the weather that has been hitting Seattle lately. Normally I would just say we should make the drive to Vantage but right now that seems unlikely to change the weather. Yesterday I woke up to four inches of snow on the deck and my cousin still at home which means her school has been canceled for two days for weather that wouldn't have stopped school in Montana even with another 4 inches on top of the first dusting. Idiot drivers in Seattle have been reported on daily careening off the roads and over guardrails hurrying home through the traffic. I make a point every time it snows more than half an inch to go no further than the grocery store because past that the likely hood someone will take you off the road is greatly increased.
I'm feeling small urges to go back to Germany for the first time in a long while which is weird sense almost all of my friends are stateside in colleges across the country. I guess it's not as much of an urge to see Germany as it is see my family. This year I felt like I missed out a lot by not going to see them over Christmas break for the first time in the history of my life but maybe getting a job and keeping my mind occupied will help with this.
For the last couple weeks I have been dropping by a climbing gym call The Seattle Bouldering Project that's being constructed at the Rainier exit (first exit coming off Mercer Island) and it looks like they are remembering my name because I got a message in my email inbox that says they are hiring. I'm super excited for the opportunity to get involved with this new gym that looks like it is going to be pretty sick. The gym is completely dedicated to bouldering which works out perfect for me because I suck at small pumpy moves and this will get me into climbing shape in no time. The crew of guys putting the gym up seem like pretty good guys which is about half of what makes any climbing gym a great gym. I will keep you guys updated on what happens with this gym job thing that could be happening, also here's the link to the gyms facebook page because as of now the website is not up, http://www.facebook.com/SeattleBoulderingProject?ref=ts
As of now that is whats currently going on in my life, now I'm going to sleep!
